The Chapter Advocacy Committee is gathering information about members who know lawmakers in the House of Delegates and Senate. If you know a lawmaker in Annapolis personally or have visited their office within the past year, please e-mail Executive Director Jennifer Ray Beckman at jlrbeckman@marylandacc.org This information will be used as the chapter launches an effort for members to visit lawmakers in the next month.

The membership of the MDACC has been mailed two letters detailing the issues that patients and caregivers are facing with the current self-referral law. If you are a member and have not received the mailing, please call the chapter office at 301-904-9012. Overwhelmingly the membership has responded positively to the call to action. The Advocacy Committee and Council met on May 10th to further discuss the effect of this law on patients. Membership in the Advocacy Committee is open. Members interested in how the political arena effects the practices of medicine or those who know members of the legislator should contact Executive Director, Jennifer Ray Beckman via e-mail at jlrbeckman@marylandacc.org

This space will be used as a mean for chapter members to learn more about the Maryland Self-Referral Law. It is the belief of the leadership that the current law hinders timely patient access to important diagnostic imaging tests. The chapter is embarking on a major campaign and your active participation, financial contribution and recognition of the importance of the issues are needed.

The information below provides background and essential information. To learn more or become involved, please contact the chapter's Executive Director, Jennifer Ray Beckman, at 877-793-8171.
